Why Work with Trivaro & GTF Freese

One partnership covering the full marine flooring stack — from technical substrate to decorative finish. Combined with Trivaro's IMO-certified vinyl flooring and marine carpet ranges, you get a single-source solution.

  • One-stop marine flooring package

Subfloor systems, insulating constructions, resin deck coatings and IMO-certified final floor coverings — all from a single point of contact. Fewer suppliers, simpler procurement, tighter project coordination.

  • Proven German technology

GTF Freese brings over 100 years of flooring expertise with in-house R&D and manufacturing in Germany. More than 700,000 m² of marine flooring installed annually on vessels for Meyer Werft, Royal Caribbean, MSC and dozens of other global references.

  • Full IMO & A-60 compliance

Every system is tested to IMO FTP Code 2010. A-60 fire-rated constructions, structure-borne noise attenuation and EC1 Plus low-emission certification are standard — not optional extras.

  • Fast installation & refurbishment-friendly

Pumpable, fast-curing screeds are walkable within hours and ready for final finish the next day. Equally suited to newbuild yards and operational vessels undergoing refit in dry dock.

  • Local project support in Scandinavia & Europe

Trivaro serves as your regional contact for technical specification, material logistics and on-site supervision. We coordinate between our team, GTF Freese engineering and your yard or contractor.

How We Work on Marine Deck Covering Projects

From first enquiry to materials on the quayside, our marine deck covering projects follow a structured three-step process. Whether you are fitting out a cruise newbuild or refurbishing a ferry deck, the workflow stays the same.

01

Technical Brief

Share vessel type, target zones, fire and noise requirements, and GA drawings. We identify the right system build-up for each area — dry cabins, wet galleys, open decks or A-60 insulated zones.

02

System Proposal & Specification

You receive detailed build-up diagrams, material datasheets and a project timeline. Each zone gets a tailored subfloor + finish recommendation — including optional IMO-certified final coverings from our catalogue.

03

Delivery & Site Support

Materials are delivered directly to the yard or vessel. On request, a GTF Freese technical supervisor joins the installation team on site to ensure correct application, curing and quality sign-off.

Typical Application Areas

GTF Freese marine deck covering and deck coating systems are specified across virtually every zone on board. Below are the areas where these systems deliver the greatest value.

Passenger Cabins & Corridors

Lightweight, low-emission screeds with noise-reducing floating floor options for guest comfort.

Lounges, Dining & Casinos

Level, dimensionally stable subfloors ready for decorative LVT, carpet or resin finishes.

Galleys & Wet Areas

Water-resistant polymer mortar with integrated slope formation and PU coatings for full IMO-approved wet-area protection.

Technical Rooms

Heavy-duty epoxy/PU coatings resistant to chemicals, oils and mechanical impact.

Sports & Pool Decks

TEFROfloor PU Comfort provides impact absorption, slip resistance and sound damping for outdoor recreational zones.

Sun Decks & Promenades

TEFROteak synthetic teak delivers the look of natural teak without maintenance — seamless, UV-stable and available in several tones.

Helicopter Decks

TEFROKA HLS coatings for extreme mechanical loads, anti-slip performance and fuel/oil resistance.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions from shipyards, owners and design offices about marine deck covering and deck coating systems. If you need more detail, contact our marine team for project-specific answers.

01

Are GTF Freese systems IMO and A-60 approved?

+

Yes. All GTF Freese marine deck covering systems are tested and approved to IMO FTP Code 2010 Part 5, including A-60 fire-rated floating floor constructions. The product range also holds EC1 Plus certification for very low VOC emission, meeting the strictest indoor air quality requirements on passenger vessels.

02

Can you support both newbuildings and refits?

+

Absolutely. The pumpable, fast-curing screeds are designed for both newbuild yards and refit projects — in dry dock or on operational vessels. Rapid curing allows areas to be walked on within hours, minimising downtime. For refurbishments, existing floor layers can be removed and replaced with minimal structural intervention.

03

Do you cover design floors as well, or only subfloors?

+

We offer both. Beyond cement-based subfloors and insulating systems, the GTF Freese range includes TEFROteak synthetic teak decking, TEFROfloor PU Comfort sports surfaces and TEFROKA epoxy/PU coatings. Combined with Trivaro’s IMO-certified vinyl and carpet finish floors, you get a complete deck-to-surface package from a single supplier.

04

How do you integrate with our existing flooring supplier?

+

Trivaro acts as a single-source partner, but our subfloor systems are fully compatible with all standard marine flooring types — whether you use our finish coverings or another supplier’s. We coordinate material specifications and delivery schedules to fit your existing project workflow.

05

What about weight and height limitations on board?

+

GTF Freese systems are engineered for marine weight constraints. Lightweight pumpable screeds start from 15 mm thickness and significantly reduce dead load compared to traditional sand-cement screeds. Build-up heights and densities are tailored per zone, ensuring compliance with stability calculations while maximising usable cabin height.
